National Missing Person Implementation Project receives further funding from the Scottish Government

Thanks to the Scottish Government, Missing People has been awarded further funding for a 6^th year to continue to offer free support to local areas across Scotland to implement The National Framework for Missing Persons in 2024-2025. This will allow us to continue to build on our work delivering free support to police, NHS, local authorities, Education and the third sector in 16 local areas across the country, which we have been providing since 2019.

We are now looking for 7 local areas in Scotland to work with this year, from May 2024 – March 2025, to deliver free consultancy, training, and support to professionals, building on existing local responses to those affected by missing as part of The National Framework Implementation Project. We would like to invite applications from the following local areas:  Orkney, Angus, Scottish Borders, Midlothian, Na h-Eileanan siar and East Renfrewshire.

Additionally, we are able to provide 5-10 days of consultancy support to 1 area we have previously worked with to progress our previous findings and recommendations.

The project has helped to ensure good practice approaches in The Framework are translated into local policy and practice. This work has had significant impact on areas that have received support, from supporting local areas to develop protocols that clarify different agencies roles and responsibilities, setting up multi-agency groups to effectively oversee local practice, and ensuring that there is a greater focus on preventing missing incidents, as well as ensuring that the right support is provided to children and adults after a missing episode.

Information Sessions

If this sounds like support that would benefit professionals in your local area, we will be hosting 2 information sessions for those who are interested from local areas we have not yet worked with, and invite service leads from Police Scotland, Health and Social Care Partnerships, local authorities, Education, and the third sector to attend to learn more, and how to apply. This is also an opportunity for us to hear about what your local area needs are around missing.

The sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams and will run for 45 minutes. There are two sessions to choose from:

Monday 22^nd April at 2pm

Wednesday 24^th April at 10am

The closing date for applications is Friday 10^th May 2024.
