Our Policy and Research team provide a national knowledge focal point in the field of missing. We aim to promote policy making that will reduce the number of people who go missing and provide the best support available to those who do so. Our policy function is evidence based, drawing on our own wealth of information, research and expertise.

Introduction to the Missing People Research Programme

The Missing People Research Programme launched in summer 2007. At present there is still little in the way of scientifically reliable information on the numbers of people going missing, why they go missing, their experiences whilst away, and the impact on those left behind. Our research programme aims to fill these knowledge gaps.

As the UK's only charity that works with young runaways, missing and unidentified people, their families and others who care for them Missing People regularly provides responses to policy consultations. When these responses are a matter of public record, we will make these responses available to view on this page.
