Our Policy and Research team provide a national knowledge focal point in the field of missing. We aim to promote policy making that will reduce the number of people who go missing and provide the best support available to those who do so. Our policy function is evidence based, drawing on our own wealth of information, research and expertise.

At present there is still little in the way of scientifically reliable information on the numbers of people going missing, why they go missing, their experiences whilst away, and the impact on those left behind. Our research programme aims to fill these knowledge gaps.
