Whilst some families may choose to allow police investigations and media appeals to lead the search for a missing person, other may wish to become involved in the search themselves.

Families can join the search in a variety of different ways; from actively searching for the missing person or getting other agencies involved, to fundraising and creating awareness of the missing person.
