Charity Teams Up With Five News for 'Missing' Month
Throughout August, the charity Missing People will team up with Five News to bring TV audiences a month-long campaign of exclusive ‘missing’-themed content every weekday.
The charity, which works to support, find and safeguard all those affected by the issue of ‘missing’, has joined forces with broadcast partner Five News for their first ever ‘Missing’ Month.
The Five News series combines reconstructions, interviews with families and expert comment from charity spokespeople, and will also feature an appeal for a different missing person each day, in the hope that it will lead to crucial information on their whereabouts.
The charity will also have a significant presence on the Five News website and in programme content where the public will be asked to ‘help keep the search alive’ with a £5 donation by texting MISSING to 82010. Each one-off text donation could provide six hours of support to vulnerable children calling the charity’s Runaway Helpline.
Alison Cowan, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Missing People said: “We are really delighted that Five News has thrown their weight behind this important issue.
“Our hope is that the Missing Month will help us to reunite some of the families who are living in limbo after the disappearance of a loved one, and make the public aware of the charity’s need for funds. “
Vikki Cook, Deputy Editor of Five News said: “Missing People are the key charity working on the issue of missing with great credentials and experience of working with broadcast media. “
Five News ‘Missing’ Month can be seen on 5pm and 7pm bulletins daily from Monday 03 August to Friday 28 August 2009.
