What we do

A lifeline when someone disappears

We offer a lifeline to the 180,000 people who run away and go missing each year in the UK.

We listen in confidence, and support missing people and their families to explore their options and, where possible, to reconnect. For those left behind we provide specialised support to ease the heartache and confusion, and help search for their missing loved ones.

Give time

Use the Search Directory to find out who is missing in your area or volunteer for Missing People.

Give socially

Join the Search by following us on Facebook or Twitter. The more people who share our missing people appeals with friends online, the more chance we have of finding them.

Give anything

Let us know how you are supporting Missing People! Call us on 0800 MISSING (647 7464) or email supporters@missingpeople.org.uk and tell us how you can help.

Our vision is that every missing person is found safe.

We are here to ensure that anyone who is missing can find a safe way to reconnect with a loved one, to get a message home, or, to get to a place of safety; and that families are supported whilst they live with not knowing what has happened to someone they love.

In the next five years we have set ourselves an ambitious target to double the number of people we help. To do this, we need to significantly increase our income. There is more information on this website for potential corporatetrust and individual supporters who are interested in finding out how they could help us reach this goal.

Our plan for Scotland

Each year, Police Scotland receive over 20,000 missing person reports. Missing People’s Scotland Strategy 2019-22 outlines how Missing People will work to support missing people and their families across Scotland; will develop our services in line with Scottish people’s needs and will continue to work in partnership with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland and other partners to increase our impact and improve the response to missing people and their families.

In 2016 we launched our first plan to increase our reach in Scotland, where Police Scotland receive nearly 40,000 calls in relation to people going missing each year.
