A lifeline when someone disappears

Missing People is a charity. We depend on you to be a lifeline.

Looking to take on a challenge or organise an event for Missing People? We'll support you every step of the way.

Give socially

Join the Search by following us on Facebook or Twitter. The more people who share our missing people appeals with friends online, the more chance we have of finding them.

Give anything

Can you raise £116 and raise awareness of our 116 000 helpline number?

"Your helpline was a lifeline during one of the most difficult and stressful times I have ever encountered".

Our vision is that every missing person is found safe. Our helpline is available 24/7 to offer practical and emotional support for anyone affected by a disappearance. But sadly, not everyone who needs our services knows that we’re here for them. This Christmas, raise money and awareness of our free, 24/7 and confidential 116 000 helpline by joining in on our Facebook fundraising campaign: Raise 116.

As you read this, there are thousands of vulnerable missing people all over the UK, as well as thousands of families struggling to cope with a disappearance. We urgently need your help to:

• Raise awareness of our free helpline number 116 000 which is here for missing people and their families

• Raise funds needed to ensure a highly skilled advisor is at the end of the line 24/7 to provide support in moments of crisis

£116 could help us take 12 calls from people in distress on our free, confidential helpline. By taking part in Raise116 you are helping to fund family support workers over Christmas. Thank you.

Let us know you're taking part by clicking the icon above.

"I found having someone at missing people to speak with so vital."
Your step-by-step guide to setting up a Facebook Fundraiser

Step one: Visit the fundraiser section of our Facebook page

Visit Missing People's Facebook page. Click on 'Fundraisers' on the navigation menu. Then select 'Raise money' or 'Create fundraiser'.

Step two: Basic information

Here you need to enter basic information about your fundraiser. Make sure you've selected to fundraise for Missing People and put your target as £116. The example end date is Christmas day here, but you can put any date you like. Just make sure you give your friends and family at least a month to donate.

Step three: Tell your story

Now it's time to personalise your fundraising page. If you have a personal connection to the charity this is your opportunity to speak about it. If you're not sure what to say, you can always copy and paste the text below:

This Christmas I want to raise money for Missing People as every 90 seconds someone is reported missing in the UK.

I'm taking part in Missing People's Raise116 campaign to raise awareness of their 116 000 helpline number, and to raise £116 so there is always a skilled advisor to take calls from someone in a moment of crisis.

Please give as generously as you can. Christmas is a particularly difficult time of year for people with a missing loved one.

Step four: Choose a cover photo

Select your cover photo. You can use our standard cover photo, or you can personalise it with your own photo. It's totally up to you.

Step five: Invite friends and spread the word

Now your page is set up, make sure you invite your friends to donate. It's also a great idea write regular Facebook posts to encourage your friends to donate.

If you reach £116, well done!

Please let us know you're taking part. Facebook won't notify us that you've set up a page until you've raised £42 ($50) so please fill in the form so we know you're getting involved.
