Why are you asking me to opt-in?
We want to keep you informed about our work and the exciting ways you can support it. Every year around 250,000 people are reported missing in the UK and every week we receive more and more requests to help vulnerable missing children and adults. Then there are the families left behind too, who need our support. "Missing" touches many lives and your support helps us to do more. By opting-in, you'll be helping us help more people.
New fundraising regulations and best practice require us to ask you explicitly if you wish to opt-in to hearing from us. We can't assume that by engaging in contact with us when you make a donation, for example, that you would like us to get in contact with you again. We never assumed this in the past and we won't do so in the future. The opt-in questions put you in control. They allow you to choose how you hear from us, for example by email, text, post or phone, and give you the ability to opt-out now or later if you change you mind. Of course, we very much hope that you'll opt-in.
How do I opt-in?
To opt-in, answer the questions on our opt-in form. Your preferences will be stored so that we keep you informed in the ways you prefer. You can choose one or more of email, text, phone or post - it's your call. When you opt-in, we'll ask you to provide your postal address so that we can be sure to identify you properly on our database. Even if you're opting-out of hearing from us by post, we'll need your address to make sure we record your preferences correctly.
What if I change my mind?
To change your preferences simply fill in the form again selecting or deselecting the means of communications you prefer. You will have to provide your postal address so that we can be sure to identify you properly on our database.

If you have already provided your opt-in preferences and details and you do not want to change them then, on most forms, you can tick a box to avoid spending time unnecessarily.
