Professionals Training and Consultancy

At Missing People, we use our skills to provide tailor-made innovative training packages to police, social services and third sector professionals on how to support, safeguard and reconnect young people and adults who go missing and their loved ones left behind.

We have the ability to work alongside you in an advisory capacity on key projects to assess your strengths and weaknesses, review your practice and help redesign your policies.

We are able to provide a national perspective on our experience of working with professionals across the UK to draw upon nationally recognised good practice and deliver up-to-date awareness of new and evolving threats to the most vulnerable people to ensure that selected trainees are trained to provide victims with a variety of practical and support options via communication tools and return home interviews.

Currently, our training packages can be adapted to your needs and focused on the topics you feel most relevant.

These include –

  • Refreshing on best practice and learning about what guidelines currently state about missing children

  • Understand and explore the risks and reasons why young people go missing and how to support and safeguard them

  • Building on existing communication and inter-personal skills to effectively work with and engage young people

  • Experience managing difficult conversations and disclosures

  • Learn how to set up a return home interview and follow up with young person, parents and carers

  • Learn how to deliver a return home interview (through role plays and scenarios)

  • Tools and tactics to working with families and how to support and refer families whose loved ones are at risk of missing

  • Discover how to build partnerships to understand and access services to provide the young person with options for on-going support

  • Learn the methods on how to manage the success of your service through young person centred feedback
