Missing People Family Representative Peter Lawrence, father of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence, gave a Press Briefing outside York Minster this afternoon to renew his appeal for Claudia upon the 40,000th hour since her last known contact in March 2009.

Peter spoke about life without Claudia and the hurt caused by Rodney Ballard’s recent behaviour, after his first meeting today with the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Dave Jones.

The Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, who is unable to be present on this occasion, said “Around 850 people are reported as missing every single day in this country, so this is an issue that affects people of all walks of life and background – and for those left behind, it can be a heart-breaking time of uncertainty and distress.

“As Peter Lawrence is a member of the Minster congregation, we see first-hand how this continues to affect Claudia Lawrence’s family, and we pray for Claudia, her family and, indeed, all those who wait for news of their absent loved ones.”
