This week we are celebrating reaching an impressive milestone with our incredible supporters, People's Postcode Lottery.
December 6th saw the cumulative total raised for the charity by players of People’s Postcode Lottery reach an enormous £4 million. Missing People has benefited from money raised by players since 2009, and the vital funds raised help us to be a lifeline when someone disappears, and to keep our helpline open 24/7.
There has been an unprecedented increase in demand for the services Missing People offers, and we have helped 60% more children in the last year and launched over 300 more searches for vulnerable missing adults than the previous year.
Jo Youle, Missing People Chief Executive, said: “Funds raised by players enable good causes across Great Britain and internationally to make positive change and we’re privileged to have benefited to the tune of £4 million. It’s thanks to the continued and committed support of People’s Postcode Lottery that we are able to be a lifeline when it’s needed most.
Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery said: “We’re delighted to recognise a phenomenal milestone - our players raising their four millionth pound for the charity. It’s a source of great pride for us that these funds allow the charity to make a huge difference to the lives of those affected by a disappearance.”
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to good causes, and Missing People has received £4 million of the total £154.8 million raised by players since the lottery began.
Missing People staff, volunteers, supporters, and families with missing loved ones were joined by People's Postcode Lottery and X-Factor stars G4 at a special Carol Service in Edinburgh last night, to remember those who are missing.
Missing People would like to say a very big 'thank you' to players of People's Postcode Lottery for supporting the work of the charity and raising such an incredible amount of money.
