Fundraise at Christmas

Support all those affected by missing

This has been the hardest year we have ever faced. But we could not let that stop the vital services you support being there for anyone who needs us.

As you read this, there are thousands of vulnerable missing people all over the UK, as well as their families struggling to cope with a disappearance, but YOU can make a huge difference. Simply by getting involved in any of the ideas below or even thinking up your own, you can help to raise money and directly impact the services we provide.

There is something for everyone – singers, crafters, baker, runners or even make a difference via your journey to work.

Festive ideas

Santa Dash

Do you have a favourite local 5k or 10k route? Fancy trying it in your Santa outfit, and then encouraging people to sponsor your efforts. Follow this up by sharing your route and a selfie with us so we can give you a shout out.

Use #santamiles4missing to get involved socially

Virtual Craft

Have you got a skill you can share online? Run a class, encourage your friends to make a donation on the evening, maybe a glass of mulled wine to spice up the session? Follow this up with a donation to our JustGiving page here.

Festive Bake Off

Either:

  • Invite your friends over webcam to compare bakes you have done before the call, OR
  • For even more fun, set-up your own virtual bake-off challenge…. send out the recipe and ingredients beforehand, everyone joins the call to bake at the same time, present each other’s cakes at the end and decide on the winner. Even after social restrictions, this can be great fun with friends who live far away.

Gift Wrapping Service

Provide a Christmas gift-wrapping service to friends, family and neighbours, then encourage them to make a donation to our Justgiving page, as a token of gesture and to show support to a charity at a difficult time.

Festive Flowers

feeling like you want to spread some Christmas joy…. collect foliage, birch branches, holly, mistletoe and ivy to make attractive displays, create your design, sell these on and encourage donations to our Justgiving page for your amazing charitable efforts.

Christmas Karaoke night

What better way to get in the festive spirit with an evening full of Christmas tunes. Either set this up virtual or in your house depending on restrictions, design your ticket invitations, and you could suggest people donate the equivalent cost of a karaoke-night ticket on your Justgiving page. Wham, The Pogues, Mariah or even Bob The Builder if you really want to.

Xmaspartyheroes

Has your Christmas party been cancelled this year? Why not use that money to help support people affected by missing this Christmas and join the #xmaspartyheroes!

We love this fantastic campaign and it is great to see so many companies getting behind it already! If you or your company decides to take part and support us with a donation, be sure to let us know! Learn more here.

Donate Your Travel

Donate the money you normally spend on your journey to work for either part or all of December. A simple idea, open to everyone, and a really easy way to support us! Make your donation here.

Christmas Cards

Have you bought your Christmas cards yet? There’s a great selection of both traditional and e-cards available on the website www.charitycards.org. Choose Missing People as your charity of choice and we will get ten pence from every card sold or 10% of the cost of e-cards or calendars.

Or send your friends and family one of our digital Christmas Cards and make a small donation with the money you saved on cards and stamps. Just choose a design, add your message, and then share the goodwill with everyone you know on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn.

Sell your clutter

Looking to make room for all those news presents this Christmas or just have an end-of-year clear out, why not sell some of your clutter and make a kind donation to Missing People when you do.
