“Your helpline was a lifeline during one of the most difficult and stressful times I have ever encountered”
Our helpline is here to offer practical and emotional support for anyone affected by a disappearance. But sadly, not everyone who needs our services knows that we’re here for them. You can help by raising money and awareness of our free and confidential 116 000 helpline by joining in on our Facebook fundraising campaign: Raise 116.
As you read this, there are thousands of vulnerable missing people all over the UK, as well as thousands of families struggling to cope with a disappearance. We urgently need your help to:
Visit Missing People’s Facebook page. Click on ‘Fundraisers’ on the navigation menu. Then select ‘Raise money’ or ‘Create fundraiser’.
Here you need to enter basic information about your fundraiser. Make sure you’ve selected to fundraise for Missing People and put your target as £116. Just make sure you give your friends and family at least a month to donate.
Now it’s time to personalise your fundraising page. If you have a personal connection to the charity this is your opportunity to speak about it. If you’re not sure what to say, you can always copy and paste the text below:
I want to raise money for Missing People as every 90 seconds someone is reported missing in the UK.
I’m taking part in Missing People’s Raise116 campaign to raise awareness of their 116 000 helpline number, and to raise £116 so there is always a skilled advisor to take calls from someone in a moment of crisis.
“I don’t know what families like mine would do without Missing People. Thank you” – Feedback from a mother of a missing child.
Please give as generously as you can.
Select your cover photo. You can use our standard cover photo, or you can personalise it with your own photo. It’s totally up to you.
Now your page is set up, make sure you invite your friends to donate. It’s also a great idea to write regular Facebook posts to encourage your friends to donate.
If you reach £116, well done!
