Events Assistant Volunteer – Night of Light Gala

What you’d be doing

You would be supporting our Major Donor Team with the organisation of our annual Night of Light Gala, taking place in March 2022. This event is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year where we invite our high-net-worth supporters for an evening, raising awareness of the issue of missing as well as raising money. The event will be in-person, however, we will also be live-streaming it for online attendees. Tasks would include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Researching, sourcing and contacting companies about auction prizes, both via email and on the phone
  • Working alongside the Major Donor Team to organise the order of events for the evening
  • Writing and proof-reading copy for auction prizes
  • Any ad-hoc tasks that arise as the event organisation continues
  • Closer to the event, you’ll be packing up materials and resources ready for the evening

Qualities/Experience/Skills needed

  • Confident using computers
  • Effective communication skills, both via email and on the phone
  • Creatively minded
  • Great organisation and time management skills
  • Experience in event management would be ideal, however, this is not essential to carry out the role

What this role can offer you

  • Opportunity to attend our Night of Light Gala as a table steward to see all your hard work come into fruition
  • You would be a part of our thriving Major Donor Team, with the opportunity to extend your volunteer role to support the team with other events throughout the year if you enjoyed your time with us
  • Utilise your existing skills, or learn new ones, in event management, research and marketing

Location and availability

  • This role would be carried out remotely for the time being, however, we would love for a volunteer to be able to come into our London office (SW14 7JE) when our office re-opens in October to work alongside our Major Donor Team
  • We would like for a volunteer to be able to commit to 8 hours per week spread over 2 days (4 hours per day), however, we can be flexible with this depending on your availability and preference.
  • We would hope that you would be able to commit to at least six months’ of volunteering, which would include attending the Night of Gala in March as well as a few weeks afterwards to help with post-event tasks and reviews.
