A change to Helpline opening hours

Changes to the Helpline

From today, 01 April 2021, our Helpline opening hours will change to 9am – 11pm, 7 days a week.

Following a challenging year, when the pandemic has affected our fundraising, like others we’ve had to think very deeply about how to make sure we ensure Missing People is around for years to come.

Our new opening hours will reflect the times when people access our support the most. We will continue to provide expert advice and publicity opportunities to people affected, via phone, text, email and online chat.

Our new website now offers more online support, guidance and resources for anyone who is missing or struggling to cope with a disappearance. This includes a peer to peer support forum for families and friends of missing loved ones to share their experiences with each other. Please take a look at this new content, and get in touch if you would like to join the forum.

How to get help

If you have been affected by a disappearance and need advice or support, you can call, text or email the Helpline for free and in confidence, on 116 000, between 9am and 11pm, 7 days per week.

Outside of these hours, you may text or email for non-urgent support, or visit www.missingpeople.org.uk/get-help

If you need help urgently between the hours of 11pm and 9am, please call 999 or 101.

We have launched a regular email so that you can be aware of new missing person appeals and share them far and wide! We are also calling on all Heroes to be the eyes and ears for Missing People on the ground. Your sighting of a missing person could make a difference in a crucial time.
