Sightings and giving information

Information from the public can help vulnerable people to safety. We publicise missing people in the hope that someone sees the appeal and then sees the missing person and can report a sighting.

Sightings information

If you see someone who you think is a missing person, please let us know. You can check to see if we are appealing for them on our website.  Fill out the form below and we can pass the information on.

We do not publicise all missing people and you might see a police post or another media appeal for a person.  We can take this information if you want to report confidentially, but it may be easier for you to contact the police directly if they are appealing for information.

We offer an alternative way of getting information to police. Some people tell us that they wouldn’t want to contact the police themselves and that they only want to pass information anonymously.  We are happy to share this information for you. The most important thing is that the police have the information and can assess if it is useful as part of their search.

Might not be Missing

Sometimes we receive information about people that someone feels worried about and they assume they might be missing. If you can’t find the person on our website or  you haven’t seen a social media post or poster about them, they may not be a missing person

If you see someone that worries you because of their behaviour, or who doesn’t seem to be well, you might feel you want to help them.  Ask yourself, does it feel safe to approach them and ask how you can help, or can you get some help for them?  Consider calling 999 if it seems to be an emergency. If someone seems to be rough sleeping and you are worried about them, you can use Streetlink website  to get them some help from an outreach team.
