Every year more than 80,000 adults are reported missing in over 110,000 incidents across England, with an estimated 15% of those being reported missing from hospitals, and an unknown number from adult care settings. Tragically each year people die following going missing from health and care settings, and Prevention of Future Death Reports have recommended improvements in the multi-agency response to those incidents.
Following an All-Party Parliamentary Group Inquiry, Missing People worked with national policing, health and care agencies to publish ‘The multi-agency response for adults missing from health and care settings – A national framework for England’. This framework aims to set out a good practice approach for multi-agency partnerships in every area across England to ensure that they are working together to prevent and respond to missing incidents from hospitals and adults care settings. The Framework has been endorsed by the Home Office and National Police Chief’s Council.
Join us on Thursday January 9th, from 11 am to 12:00 pm for a free webinar presented by the Team at Missing People to hear about the framework, to talk through barriers and challenges you are facing, and to discuss how we can improve responses to adults missing from health and care settings in the future. We will also be joined by a speaker with lived experience and have a spotlight on an area with best practice.
We have launched a regular email so that you can be aware of new missing person appeals and share them far and wide! We are also calling on all Heroes to be the eyes and ears for Missing People on the ground. Your sighting of a missing person could make a difference in a crucial time.
