Roots and Memories – A Day for Families

“A space to reflect

On the passing of time

And remember the laughter and joy

Of the person who is not here”

Garden of Memories by Marlena O’Donnell (Family Member and Creative Writing Group Facilitator)

This June, Missing People will be holding a very special event in the beautiful seaside city of Brighton for families who have been impacted by missing. We know that a loved one going missing can lead to an array of emotions and for families and friends, staying rooted in activities reflecting who they are outside of their challenging situation can be hard to achieve. We know that finding a safe space to talk about a missed loved one, reflecting on times of both joy and difficulty, can be very valuable.

Join us this summer for a range of wellbeing activities, from massage, to mindfulness, to art, all designed to support family members to connect with each other, themselves and the person they are missing. Our Family Support team will be on-site throughout the day. This event is completely free-of-charge, and a delicious lunch will be provided. We will also be joined by families, friends and supporters of missing people from the wonderful Missing People Choir. Following this event, the choir will be taking a short walk into the bustling streets of Brighton to perform to members of the public. We warmly welcome anyone who has attended the Roots and Memories event to join in or watch and enjoy their performance.
