Suicide Risk TextSafe®, in partnership with Samaritans and the police is there to offer support to missing adults thought to be at high risk of suicide. It is a way of proactively reaching out to a missing adult. At police’s request a text is sent that informs the missing adult of the confidential helpline service and Samaritans. Following the text message, the missing person will be telephoned by a Samaritans volunteer and offered emotional support. This lets the missing person know that we care for their safety and want to help and encourage them to get in touch.
Please note, that Suicide Risk TextSafe® is only available to Police forces who have signed up to the service. If your force is not signed up this may cause a delay in the request getting through. If your force is not signed up please contact partnerships@missingpeople.org. For TextSafe® when the missing adult is not a suicide risk, click here.
We have launched a regular email so that you can be aware of new missing person appeals and share them far and wide! We are also calling on all Heroes to be the eyes and ears for Missing People on the ground. Your sighting of a missing person could make a difference in a crucial time.
