Radio 4 Appeal

This Christmas, Nicki Durbin makes the Radio 4 Appeal on behalf of Missing People.

Every year, 170,000 people in the UK go missing.

There are many reasons why someone might be thinking about going missing, including, but not limited to:

  • Relationship problems.
  • Work, money and debt issues.
  • Mental health issues.
  • Feeling unsafe at home.
  • Being in poor, unsuitable accommodation.
  • Pressure, threats or intimidation from others.
  • Feeling trapped or not able to be yourself.
  • Isolation.

We’re currently living through a cost of living crisis, where people are struggling to pay their bills. This kind of financial stress and pressure can cause many to reach a point of crisis and go missing. We’ve already seen an influx of calls this Winter as a result of this rise in the cost of living.

We are launching an appeal for donations to ensure that every call to our helpline service is answered and we can continue to be a lifeline.

Listen in from Sunday 18 December on BBC Radio 4 or return to this page for a link to the appeal.

The appeal runs from Sunday 18th to Saturday 24th of December. If you would like to make a donation outside of those dates please do so here as any donations made via the donate button on the Radio 4 appeal page outside those dates will go to another charity.
