Supporting Children and Young People Missing from Residential Care and Supported Accommodation Train the Trainer Course – October 2025

We are now taking books for our Supporting Children and Young People Missing from Residential Care and Supported Accommodation Train the Trainer course.  

This course is for professionals to be able to train their teams to better support children and young people who go missing from care by:  

  • Providing better support to children and young people at risk of going missing 
  • Providing better support to children and young people when they return from missing 
  • Helping to prevent children and young people from going missing 
  • Feeling confident about when to report a child or young person missing.  

 Who is the course for?  

Professionals working in supported accommodation, care homes or with vulnerable young people who want to be able to train their staff and teams to work in a child-centred way.  

Course dates and times 

  • Day 1: 15th October 10am-3pm 
  • Day 2: 16th October 10am-3pm 
  • Day 3: 22nd  October 10am-1pm.

Course content

You will be trained to deliver the following course content: 

  • Understanding the national picture of children and young people missing from care and supported accommodation including risks and trends  
  • Understanding the role of Ofsted and Regulation 21  
  • Why children in care and supported accommodation go missing – push & pull factors   
  • Good practice in preventing and responding to missing episodes, including the Philomena Protocol  
  • What does a good return interview/conversation look like  
  • Good practice in building rapport and engaging children and young people   
  • How to work with a child-centred approach  
  • Safety planning

Cost

We are offering an introductory rate of £1,525per person for this course. 

Funds generated from commissioned services are put directly back into the charity, which enables us to reach, help, and support more people affected by missing.
