Return Home Interview & Return Discussion Train the Trainer Course – July 2025

We are now taking bookings for our new Return Home Interview/Return Discussion course.

This course is for local authority or third sector professionals who want to deliver training to their teams on how to complete effective Return Home Interviews or Return Discussions and provide impactful support to children and young people who have returned from being missing.

Return Home Interviews or Return Discussions are a valuable tool for early intervention in addressing the reasons why a young person has gone missing, including identification of risk of child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation, problems at school or home, and many other types of harm. They provide an opportunity for children to disclose harm and for appropriate action to be taken before further escalation of any risk the child is facing.

Following this course, you will be able to:

  • Train an unlimited number of staff to deliver effective Return Home Interviews/Return Discussions
  • Be supported by Missing People to deliver this training for up to 2 years from the date of completion, including access to slides and resources for delivery.
  • Be confident at sharing effective and impactful Return Home Interview/Return Discussion practice, informed by those with loved experience and national best practice
  • Ensure your teams are delivering Return Home Interviews or Return Discussions in line with DfE guidance and Ofsted requirements.

“So for me speaking to [staff member] was the first time I got to fully talk about everything that had happened, to finally put pieces together that before didn’t make sense because I never took a step back to think about it. It helped me get everything off my chest that had been bottled up for so long… Overall the return interview was really the kick start in starting my recovery and a broken few years.”
