Meet our team of experts on missing

As Director of Policy and Development at Missing People, Susannah set up the Business Development team and now oversees it. She has 10 years’ experience of developing and leading successful services and projects, with a strong focus on ensuring our work is high quality, grounded in the needs of missing people and families, and responsive to the changing needs of our commissioners.  Susannah also leads the Policy and Partnerships and the Research and Impact teams at the charity. Her wide-ranging role together with her links with police, local and national governments and other charities means she has unique insights into what works in providing an effective response to missing people and their families, as well as in-depth knowledge of national and local policies, guidance and good practice.  Her background is in policy, research and community engagement, with previous roles at the London Assembly working for the Police and Crime Committee and at Nacro, the crime reduction charity. Susannah regularly represents the charity at national conferences, Government meetings and as a media spokesperson. Outside of work, Susannah is a proud supporter of Arsenal men’s and women’s teams and enjoys running along the Thames.

As Head of Business Development Holly has worked at Missing People for nearly 5 years, starting as a manager of an operational team supporting missing children on return. Holly now has oversight of the Business Development Team. Holly has a background in Social Work and Conflict Resolution and is dedicated to creating innovative solutions to solve the challenges that local areas face in relation to missing. Holly has led several consultancy projects with police forces and Local Authorities, helping them to improve their response to missing children and adults. Holly has created and hosted many conferences, training sessions and workshops for multi-agency professionals. Holly is particularly passionate about involving, consulting and engaging with people with lived experience of missing, to ensure our work is grounded in their unique and diverse experiences. Jane began working at Missing People as a Return Home Interview Worker in May 2016 and developed her skillset with a particular focus on safeguarding, operational management, and strategic planning to become a Local Services Manager in March 2018. Since then, Jane has managed various Missing People services including; Safecall, training and conferences, and police partnerships. Jane is a highly experienced project manager, setting up and delivering high-profile projects since 2018 including ‘Search Dog Heroes’; a project helping to find the most high-risk missing people in the UK with trained ground-scenting dogs. In addition, between 2020-2022, Jane also set up and managed ‘Is This Ok?’; an innovative cross-organisation project supporting children and young people at risk or experiencing Child Exploitation, through a digital chat-bot and one-to-one chat system. Jane is also part of the Business Development Team, helping to win and secure statutory income for existing and new Missing People’s projects and services, whilst frequently delivering and managing consultancy projects and training.

Nikki is a Senior Business Development Manager at Missing People. She joined Missing People in 2017 as a Return Home Interview Worker after teaching and completing her PhD in public policy at The University of Queensland. Nikki has a passion for working with young people, completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Child, Adolescent & Family Psychotherapy at the Tavistock & Portman, NHS Foundation in 2019. Nikki has previously managed Missing People’s Safe and Well Check service and SafeCall service. She currently manages Missing People’s partnership project with Scottish Government, which ensures the implementation of The Scottish National Missing Persons Framework within local areas across Scotland in partnership with Police Scotland, local authorities, the NHS, and Education. Nikki is also leading on Missing People’s Systems Change work, which seeks to address repeat missing and harm nationally and locally. Nikki frequently delivers consultancy and training for Missing people. Her extensive experience of front-line service delivery with both missing adults and children, and policing experience as a Special Constable, informs her knowledge of exploitation, safeguarding, policy analysis, and good practice.

Beth joined the Business Development Team in August 2023 after graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Criminology with Sociology. Beth thoroughly enjoyed studying modules such as policing, forensic criminology, and victimology, which helped shape her understanding of social justice and social issues. Beth conducted her final-year research on investigating missing people from the perspective of the police. During her research, Beth became devoted to understanding the complexity surrounding the responses to missing people. Throughout her studies, Beth was a part of Scotland’s first cold case unit to help investigate unsolved unidentified remains. During this time, she was able to develop her interdisciplinary and leadership skills practically to make progress within the cases. Beth is passionate about working with individuals with lived experience of missing to allow our work with local authorities and police forces to be insightful and grounded.
