Missing People Statement on HMICS report

We welcome the HMICS report as an insightful and thorough review of the police response to missing children and adults across Scotland. The report highlights the significant scale and complexity of missing person incidents, and the risks faced by those who go missing, including the dangers of suicide, physical harm, and sexual assault.

Missing People is proud to play a key role in addressing these challenges through our work with the National Working Group on Missing Persons in Scotland and the delivery of our helpline and support services for missing people and their families. We are particularly pleased that HMICS has acknowledged the contribution of our two Scottish Government funded national coordinators in strengthening local responses and the value of our support services for missing people and their families.
