Missing People Choir Assistant

About the Missing People Choir

Every year, 170,000 children and adults go missing in the UK, affecting over a million people. Missing People is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting missing individuals and their loved ones.

Formed in 2014, the Missing People Choir brings together those affected by disappearance, using the power of music to foster connection, healing, and hope. In 2017, the Choir reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent, helping to bring two missing people home through the awareness their performances generated. The Choir meets monthly in central London on Saturday afternoons.

Your Role

As Choir Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in helping the Choir thrive. Working closely with the Choir Director, you’ll support the smooth running of rehearsals and events, helping to maintain a welcoming, creative, and supportive space for members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and Support New Members: Help with inductions, including completing forms and explaining what to expect at rehearsals.
  • Assist with Admin and Logistics: Support planning and preparation for rehearsals and events, including light admin tasks.
  • On-the-Day Support: Be an extra pair of hands during sessions—help with set-up, take photos/videos for the Choir’s social media volunteer, and assist the Choir Director as needed.
  • Optional Participation: You’re welcome to join the Choir as a singing member, but this is entirely optional.

Location & Time Commitment

Location: London-based. You’ll need access to a computer or tablet and a reliable internet connection.

Time Commitment: 2–5 hours per month, with flexible working. This includes occasional Saturday afternoon rehearsals in central London and check-in meetings during working hours. Travel expenses are reimbursed.

Duration: Initial 6-month commitment, with the option to continue following a review.
