Tuesday 24 March 2026, 4-4.45pm
This webinar will be an opportunity to learn more about Black & Missing, A toolkit for identifying and challenging bias in police responses to Black missing people.
Black children and adults are disproportionately likely to go missing: while approximately 4% of the UK population are Black, an estimated 14% of all missing incidents are for Black people. Research has shown that Black people also face significant disparities when they go missing.
The toolkit aims to support police forces in understanding their response to Black missing people – identifying whether there are any disparities in outcomes and their response linked to race; and aims to equip officers with context and understanding to help them to challenge bias and improve their response if issues are identified.
At the webinar you will hear about the research behind the toolkit, get an overview of some of the tools we have included, hear why this work is so important, and get a chance to ask questions about how it can be implemented.
If the event is over-subscribed we will assign places on a first come first serve basis.
Who should attend this webinar?
The toolkit is designed for use within police forces, so this webinar will be primarily aimed at police officers and staff. We would welcome attendees from all roles within policing, both operational and strategic.
The webinar may also be relevant for professionals from other safeguarding partners, although please be aware the content may not be targeted to your specific organisation or role.
