Missing People partners with It’s a Penalty for their campaign during the Commonwealth Games

What?

We are honoured to partner with It’s a Penalty for their eye-opening awareness campaign taking place during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Their website highlights the important work they do stating,

‘It’s a Penalty campaign around major sporting events, harnessing the power of sport to prevent abuse, exploitation, and trafficking worldwide.’

The campaign shines a light on exploitation and modern slavery which are very prevalent today but are often underreported. It aims to raise awareness of human trafficking, exploitation, and abuse, whilst providing signs to look out for and how to help if you suspect exploitation is taking place.

The campaign has the support of some amazing partners such as Airbnb, British Airways, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, and Emirates. An impressive list of influential sportspeople, such as Usain Bolt and Ellie Simmonds, also feature and are helping to spread the word.

Why?

Shockingly, 1 in 7 missing children have experienced sexual exploitation, and 1 in 10 have experienced criminal exploitation.

The links between missing and exploitation are clear. We are proud to provide a free, confidential lifeline directly to those who are experiencing exploitation on 116 000.
