These special reunions bring us hope

What have we been up to?

Brothers Reunited After 40 Years Apart

For over four decades, Marty and Steve lived completely separate lives and were unaware of each other’s fate. Originally from London, the brothers were separated during their childhood when their family emigrated to Australia. Over time, they lost all contact.

Steve’s life took a difficult path. He experienced homelessness, time in prison, and dropped off the digital radar. Meanwhile, Marty carried the heartache of not knowing what had become of his brother.

In 2024, on a whim, Marty submitted a request to our service dedicated to reconnecting relatives who have become estranged. This service is made possible thanks to LexisNexis Risk Solutions and kind donations like yours. Just months later, he received a message he never expected: “Your brother has been found, and he wants to reconnect.”

This Summer, the brothers reunited after 40 years apart. Steve said, “This is the best thing that’s ever happened in my life.” Their story is a powerful reminder that reconnection is always possible, even with many barriers.

Son returns home after being missing for weeks

One evening in March this year, Deante went missing from Enfield. His mother, Vandana, struggled to draw public attention to help find her son. Through our partnership with The Mirror for our ‘Missed’ campaign, we were able to share an appeal to find Deante with their readers. Thankfully, Deante was found safe and well.

Vandana shared her gratitude. She believes this publicity was key to bringing her son home safely. “Thanks so much for everything The Mirror has done. The police then realised who he was, probably because of all the publicity making it very high on their radar.”

Whilst Deante was missing, our Helpline and our Family Support Team were there to advocate for Vandana through this incredibly difficult time. We were deeply concerned about how someone at such high risk could disappear without an urgent response being triggered.

We will keep advocating for families like Vandana’s to ensure every family gets support and a fair response.

People Found from 2024-25

Our latest data reveals how many adults and children were found safe between 2024-2025.

During this time, 224 children and 378 adults we searched for were found safe. With the risk of harm while away, Missing People will continue to aid in the appeal and publicity for a missing person for as long as it takes.

Our team provides vital support to children, adults and families who need us. Over the last year, we have helped 4,780 children and young people, 2,515 adults, and 3,388 families. This shows the huge number of people who need our support. Missing is a crisis, and we continue to work towards our organisational goal of being a lifeline to all people affected by a disappearance.
